Waiting for Christmas to buy a Playstation 3?
If you’re of those chosen ones waiting for christmas to buy a brand new PS3 because of the usual price drops, forget it! According to Engadget, Sony announced that there will be no price cuts on this holiday season, even with the XBOX 360 Elite at 299€, Sony says the price of the console won’t be an issue at all.
Well, my girlfriend is wishing for a PS3 for a few months now and the main reason we didn’t get it yet was because of the price, and seeing as we’re not exactly made of money, I would assume there are a lot more out there in the same dilema.
We’re probably going to wait until January. God of War 3’s release is the final deadline to get a PS3 for her, anyway. I myself want to play some GTA4 and have a blu-ray player… other than that, I’m not that much into it, seeing as most of the Hi-Def content I have is only computer-friendly (aka MKV files).
Also, Fnac (Portugal) is releasing now the new PS3 160GB edition. So close to christmas, I don’t think they’ll cut the prices one cent. And still in that the price won’t be an issue extravaganza… how is it not an issue if, for 400€, you still can’t play your PS2 games on it?!

Sony has been making some bad calls regarding the PS3. Don’t get me wrong, I love my PS3, but removing the retro compatibility with the PS2 was the worse they could ever do… at least they could keep some sort of emulated PS2. Still, the PS3 is an excellent console, and you can always get a version with a smaller disk and upgrade it later on.
