Anyway, a Greek book written in the 4th century - Philogelos: The Laugh Addict -- was translated and seems to have a quite similar to ’s (but instead of a parrot, it’s a slave!) and, I must say, would be a brilliant to use inside a movie like Life of Brian.

The essentially tells the tale of a man who returns a slave that died a few days after it was bought. “When he was with me, he never did any such thing!” was the reply. The 265 jokes in Philogelos are were written by and , about whom very little is known.
