Brazil: Man holds woman hostage with Sega gun!

A man broke into a 60-year-old woman’s house to collect on a debt and hold her hostage with a Sega Light Phaser for 10 (YES, TEN!) hours, until he finally released her after negotiating with Brazil’s Federal District Police officers.
For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, the “weapon” that the guy on the left is holding is completely made of plastic and was used to shoot 8-bit rendered enemies on Sega’s Master System!
It even had a cord, which he probably ripped out so the gun would look “real”! And the real sad part is that not only the 60-year-old woman was fooled, but the police also fell for it!
I mean, yeah, of course you should also be extremely careful in situations like this, but there were special ops guys on the scene! Are you really going to tell me that not even one of them stood up for one single second and said “Is anyone else seeing a F*ck*ing phaser gun?!”
I was just getting ready to go to bed and I thought: “let me just check on Google Reader and see if there’s something interesting to check out”. I would seriously be less surprised if I read about Martians watching Seinfeld via Sattelite transmissions…
