The popular tv-show MacGyver, which ran from 1985 to 1992 on ABC is being developed as a feature film for New Line, according to Reuters.
Richard Dean Anderson (Stargate: Atlantis and SG-1) starred as the secret agent for the Phoenix Foundation who frequently would escape from dangerous situations with ingenious lightning-quick engineering trickery, usually not envolving much than a paper clip.
The character eventually achieved enough cultural recognition to become a reference for anyone attempting to jury-rig a solution out of household items.
No writer has been hired, athough the studio hopes to find a script that acknowledges the concept’s pop-culture profile yet still makes for a serious and fun adventure movie.
I personally think it will be a massive hit basically because, come on, it’s a movie about MacGyver! I wonder who they’re going to cast for that one, although I hope it’s the same actor because I will definitly pay to see a 60-year-old MacGyver with osteoporosis or something like that perform the same legendary tricks!
