Venezuela: buy a cell phone for $14!

Hugo Chavez announced that there will be $14 cell phones available – El Vergatario – complete with MP3 playback, FM Radio and even a digital camera. That may not sound like a lot now-a-days, but where can you get all that for $14?!
President Hugo Chavez unveiled the phone – named “El Vergatario” – on Thursday, saying it would be produced by a joint Venezuelan-Chinese firm and marketed across Latin America and the Caribbean. The firm, Vetelca, is 85 percent controlled by Chavez’s government, with the remainder owned by ZTE of China.
Vetelca plans to make four million of the units a year in association with another Chinese company, Huawei.
