Windows 7 will allow you to disable and remove Internet Explorer 8
I almost could not believe my eyes when I read about this! According to Chris Holmes and aeroxp.org, Microsoft will give users the ability to disable and delete Internet Explorer 8 in Windows 7. The bloggers identified the feature in a recent build (7048) of a pre-release version of Windows 7.
Both sites posted instructions on how to disable IE8 on build 7048, which requires two reboots. However, the box that needs to be unchecked is easy to find. It’s located in the control panel.
If this happens other browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera and so on will finally have a fighting change to be chosen by the general public. On the other hand, IE8 will be installed by default and you’ll still have to use it to download other browsers. It still sounds to me like most people will just keep IE installed anyway.
At least people are finally starting to give up on Internet Explorer 6… I can only speak for my website but up until now most of my visits originated from people running WinXP with IE6 (~70%), where as now it’s down to 28%, leaving Firefox 3 on top with 31%. This doesn’t make me completely happy, specially since my website doesn’t have enough visitors to build a strong statistics study, but I definitly see it as a good start and I hope IE6 continues to slowly fade away…
I think every single web developer reading this can relate to what I just said…

Internet Explorer 8 seems to be the best browser for me. I can open more than 20 windows simultaneously without crashing. IE7 and IE6 is unstable that if you open more than windows at a time it just freezes or causes the blue screen.
