As I said before, Microsoft is about to launch Windows Marketplace for mobile, as you can see in the mobile-formatted page over at client.marketplace.windowsmobile.com. Unfortunately, marketplace.windowsmobile.com still redirects to the Windows Mobile Catalog.
Microsoft was very quiet about it at MWC – no screenshots and no specifics details. At first, the word was that only Windows Mobile 6.5 devices could use the Marketplace, but it was later known that it may be available for 6.1 devices as well, which are excellent news for a lot of people out there!
So, that’s it for now, a mobile-formatted website. There is no information if this will be the platform on which Marketplace will run, but it’s quite possible since it will be compatible with both Windows Mobile 6.5 and 6.1 devices. This would also mean limited features, like no simultaneos downloads or automatic software updates through the store.
